MSFT is going inside some enterprise IT departments where it doesn’t need to be. MSFT has no responsibility to protect us from EVERYTHING. There can be some damn good reasons why some IT departments are running IE6 today. But MSFT doesn’t know that. SOMETIMES users know better than MSFT.

If anyone’s still using IE5, which was released in 1999, they have every ounce of pity I can give them.

This is less about forcing updates as it is about ridding the world of a terrible mistake Microsoft made 10 years ago. IE6 is the least secure browser and the biggest pain in the rear to web designers and we will all be much much happier when it goes away.

Why would you want to even use IE? It’s the crappiest browser on the market. I recommend using Chrome or Firefox, which have rapid release cycles with push updates. Not to mention, they conform to the latest HTML5 standards, and are faster and more secure. IE needs to just fall to the wayside.

what about those stuck with a version of internet explorer tha microsoft hasn’t or won’t upgrade? How about the mac users???? how about the unix world????

Right…. microsoft wants you to buy windows and their internet explorer is part of the eventual need to change OS’es too, seen it all before many times
