I wasn’t talking about slates. ARM could also be used in lighter laptops, for example. Or they could make Windows 8 more touch-friendly.

This would be competing with the iPad 2 (or 3 or 4, depending on timescales) so it will fail if it’s only a bit better, or a bit cheaper, than the iPad 1. Must be a lot better and I don’t think MS can do that.

@UnderDoc: Slates don’t have a mouse, so “full blown Windows” would be UI hell.

Things are about to become very interesting… I wonder if modern ARM processors could run a full blown Windows, or if MS are considering a stripped-down version…

I think due to INTEL Linux/meego efforts, MS has to come up with this strategy. Next step to see is what INTEL do. Can they match up ARM in terms of power efficiency and keep lead in speed as well.

As long as the UI gets a massive overhaul for touch usage I’m excited! If not, then Microsoft you have floundered an opportunity :P
