Microsoft Surface unboxing

, Dec 18th 2008 Discuss [0]

We love a good unboxing here at SlashGear, and somehow it’s all the more exciting when the box is big enough to require its own pallet.  Darien Library have just taken delivery of a new Microsoft Surface multitouch table, and John Blyberg shot some photos of unboxing it from crate to touchscreen playtime.

Interestingly enough, John’s photos show the input panel for the Surface, something I can’t recall seeing before.  Buyers get four USB ports, component video input, stereo audio input, VGA and a wired ethernet connection.  The whole thing runs Vista behind the scenes; there’s no telling which user icon John decided to choose during the setup.

Surface has been available privately – to commercial organisations – for some time now, but Microsoft began selling its special developer package at the PDC last month.  It’s still available to order, priced at $13,500.
