Microsoft is thinking outside the box this time around and with their SideWinder X8, they’ve opted for wireless. And though wireless isn’t often included in a gaming mouse, Microsoft is forging ahead, anyway.

The latest version of the SideWinder uses a 2.4GHz connection to transmit its data. It can even be maxed out at 4,000 dpi, which for many would be too sensitive. But hey, it’s better to have too much response than not enough.

With a 30-hour battery life, most gamers will find the mouse sufficient for even the most rigorous of gaming sessions. But it does come with a play-and-charge cable in case you ever run out of juice in the middle of battle. The SideWinder X8 uses the BlueTrack technology revealed just a few days ago as a part of the Explorer Mouse and Explorer Mini Mouse. But to refresh your memory, BlueTrack can work on any surface. The Microsoft SideWinder X8 will be available next February for $100.
