Microsoft has invested in Facebook and has a partnership with Facebook… I doubt they are building something that would compete with Facebook.

Before we go shouting about how much the name “sucks,” a little respect might be due.

The Tulalip are a Native American tribe — and I suspect that, this being a codename, is what Microsoft is getting at. It’s a social project, hence “tribes.”

mmm, well, it says “Find what you need and share what you know”. That sounds more like a social questions site… like along the lines of Yahoo! answers. Which would fall in line with Bing’s social search concept very well. Considering the text and the log-in, I find that seems more likely IMHO. Did anyone actually log in past the splash screen and see?
