Microsoft has already has a couple of apps for Windows 8 that are for services with Xbox branding. The apps include Xbox Music and Xbox Video. A new job listing has surfaced that shows Microsoft is looking to develop a third major app for Windows 8, this time an Xbox Reading app.
The job listing says that Microsoft is seeking a software design engineer to build what it calls an interactive reading app on Windows incorporating books, magazines, and comics. The new software engineer that fills the open position will reportedly join the Music, Video, and Reading team that shipped the Xbox apps available already.
Microsoft building the app is curious with the company already shipping a Reader app for Windows 8. The thought is that Microsoft wants to redesign and rebuild that app and offer it with Xbox branding.
The Reader app currently available for Windows 8 supports PDF, XPS, and TIFF files. It is unclear if the new app will hit the Xbox One and Xbox 360. The Xbox Music and Xbox Video apps are currently available on consoles as well as Windows 8 PCs.
