The WebOS  card interface for touch-enabled application.

A full Linux desktop for traditional keyboard-and-mouse applications.

]]> By: WixosTrix http://www.slashgear.com/microsoft-explains-windows-8-dual-interface-design-31175693/#comment-133806 WixosTrix Wed, 31 Aug 2011 21:53:00 +0000 http://www.slashgear.com/?p=175693#comment-133806 Sinofsky shouldn’t even have to explain this.  Any idiot could realize the direction they are going it.  Obviously, the Metro UI will be most used for touch screen devices, while the traditional UI will be mostly for mouse and keyboard input.  It would make no sense at all if you had to constantly switch between UIs for basic uses.  They are investing in the new UI because they finally understand that the traditional UI just isn’t going to cut it for touch, but also understand that people still need the traditional computer sometimes.

The only bit of useful information here is that the traditional UI code won’t be loaded until the user wants to go to it.
