Having to move the pointer to the top left to get the multitasking panel to appear or the top right corner for the other panel, which in my case with 2 monitors is especially painful. I just don’t get any benefit from either of those little panels. It’s appearance over function I’m afraid.

Yes I see that. I don’t really see the need for that metro interface on my desktop(or laptop), I just find it annoying. Seems like they are more concerned with making it look slick than being functional. I have two monitors so to bring up the right hand side panel it’s a real pain. I have to put the pointer right at the very top and not scoot it over to the next monitor. Even the left side panel bugs me. Why can’t it be docked to the top or bottom of the screen and I can just slide the pointer there to have it pop out. The way it is I have to move the pointer all the way across the screen, and sometimes 2 screens to get to it and then the sweet spot is in the top left. Too much hassle. Maybe there is a keyboard shortcut but I never use them much and i suspect not many do. In addition I have no need of desktop email or Facebook notifications I get those on my smart phone. In fact I hardly ever use email or facebook on the computer any more, I usually use either the phone or the ipad.

That doesnt sound good. Here’s hoping M$ can iron out these annoyances or else their 90% marketshare will dramatically go down lol.

desktop mode is (as I posted above) not the same as in Win7. In fact, it’s kind of a hybrid from Aero and Metro UIs and personally I found it very inconvenient.

Metro UI is still now the same as in Win7. Starting with the ‘Start Menu’ that can’t be found in 8. And I agree with Dave, it’s pain in the.. Well, it’s very VERY difficult to use at PC. I even didn’t find a ‘Paste’ option in the IE’s address field! It would be best choise to leave the Win7′s UI in Win8 EXACTLY as it is now if you choose the ‘Aero’ UI.

Yo BigDave, its got a Desktop mode for desktops and a tablet mode (ie Metro UI). Using the Metro UI on a Desktop is kinda stupid as it is not meant for it.

W8 is suppose to reach different form factors, and preferences. If you prefer mouse and keyboard theres always desktop mode to go to.

Although I to have it and agree with you. Beta is beta is still the first rule. Lets hope they work this siz out.

I have the preview version of widows 8 and don’t care for it. I don’t find it intuitive at all and it’s a pain to navigate. Maybe with a touchscreen latptop or tablet its better but not on a regular desktop.
