Microsoft dangles OneDrive incentive to boost Bing

Yesterday, Google enticed users to update their account security details by offering a couple gigabytes of Google Drive storage in return, leaving users with both a potentially more secure account and a little more storage space in their cloud account. That seems to be something of a trend for the week, with Microsoft having also rolled out some extra cloud storage space to users in return for an action — though, in this case, the reward is 100GB of space rather than 2GB.

In this case, Microsoft isn't looking to make your account more secure (though it no doubt cares about such things) — it is wanting you to sign up for Bing Rewards, an account that is necessary in order to nab those 100GB of cloud storage space. You'll also need to be located in the United States.

On February 5, Microsoft nixed support for Facebook sign in. You'll need a Microsoft account which will be used to sign up for Bing Rewards (and by signing up, we mean double checking your info and just clicking a button when prompted). That'll get you squared away, after which point you can mosey on into your dashboard.

Once you're in your dashboard, you'll see something like the layout in the screenshot above. The 100GB of Onedrive storage will be listed, which you'll simply need to click in order to claim. The storage will be available for 2 years once you claim it.
