"Nokia didn’t want a sale to happy either. " has the author ever been to an English class ?

Anyway, it was clear from the beginning that the so-called "strategic" alliance between the Fins and MS was just a bluff whose ultimate purpose was to allow Redmond to snap up Nokia's IP portfolio. As a manager, I could never fathom how Elop came up with the idea that in a highly-competitive market you can still allocate resources to a dying OS (Symbian) hoping clients will not notice... he fired other people in Finland for having taken the wrong decisions in the past (which is justifiable), but maybe he should look into his own backyard?....

I would dispute the assertion that Nokia have some time available to turn the mobile devices business around. The market works on an 18 month cycle, driven by the carrier contracts customers buy into. From the point where Elop announced Nokia were ditching Symbian & Meego in Feb 2011 they have lost almost every customer to rival handset replacements, and 85 % of their revenue stream. Now the customers have gone, there is no time left, it's game over.

That was the plan all along, send in Elop the trojan horse to bankrupt Nokia and kill its OS's so Microhard can buy it and use its patent to patent troll. I wish someone would do an investigation into the board members to find blackmail or bribes

I wonder if it would be worth while for Microsoft to get into the hardware aspect of smartphones. While the XBox has worked out well for them, the smartphone market seems to be much harder to crack than the console world.

They should just concentrate on making their OS for the smartphone market and leave the hardware to another company.
