I disagree. Firstly, Apple was successful (and rightly so), because at the time it was heads and shoulders above ANYTHING that was on the market in terms of usability, UI concept, vision, design and... pretty much everything. And with respect to you saying wp7 doesn't stand a chance - that may well be, but not because it is an inferior product, but because people don't try it out. Pretty sad if you ask me.

"Windows phone just isnt as interesting..."
not in my book, buddy. I've used a LOT of different phones and my HD7 is *by far* the one I use and like most. Check technobuffalo for why he switched...

"or widely available..."
totally with you on this one.

"and often very expensive..."
not where I live. It is pretty much all the same with the exception of a small premium for the iPhone.

"with less apps :("
See, this is what I hear all the time, but trust me - this is no show-stopper for wp7. I've been using it pretty much since the beginning and while it truly sucked a year ago I would be hard pressed to find any app I use that doesn't exist. All the ones I have on my iPad are on my wp7 device as well.

$200mil - nice! What is really sad is the fact that those campaigns so far have been utter rubbish. Can't they just spend it on a good marketing campaign done by a top company for the heck of it? Man, that Nokia campaign looked as if the 80s smacked me in the face with a brick. Who are they advertising for? My mom?

Just for the record: I am saying this as it annoys the heck out of me to see such a great product - yes, I really do like wp7 a lot - be treated that way. They had better spend that amount of money on education of staff in carrier stores to begin with - those guys are utterly clueless AT BEST. Or royalties if they close a contract with a wp7 device. Or a decent marketing campaign, but I guess I've mentioned that :P
