Nintendo have confirmed that they will be bringing the metallic silver version of their DS handheld games console to North America.  The new color variant isn’t actually all that new, having been available in Japan and Europe for almost a year.

Functionally, the metallic silver DS is identical to existing DS handhelds.  That means dual-screens, one touch-sensitive, a decent gaming back-catalog and wireless connectivity.

Nintendo are yet to announce whether the silver version will be priced any differently to those colors already on shelves.  It will also feature in a new print advert alongside Liv Tyler.  Expect availability on September 7th.
