Mercedes is showing off a very potent new sports coupe that falls into the company’s AMG line. The new car is the S 63 AMG Coupe and it has some very impressive specifications. Perhaps the most impressive specification of the car is the massive Biturbo 5.5L V8 under the hood.
Biturbo is the way Mercedes describe its twin turbo setup. The 5.5L V8 produces 585hp and has 900 Nm of torque. The car is also fitted with AMD 4Matic all-wheel drive.
The S 63 AMG has Magic Body Control suspension for comfort and performance. AMG has lightened the car by 65 kilograms using its Lightweight Performance strategy compared to the previous model. The S 63 AMG Coupe is able to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 to 4.3 seconds depending on the model variant. The top speed for the car is limited to 250 km/h.
Power output for the new V8 has been increased by 41 hp compared to the outgoing model. The S 63 AMG coupe is available in a rear-wheel drive model. Both versions of the car are equipped with an AMG sports exhaust system with automatic exhaust flaps. AMG hand assembles the 5.5L V8 engine used in the car and the engine is mated to a Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission. The car will launch in September at an unannounced price.
