Because they recognized their C-Class isn’t the most tuner friendly ( I know…I have an 11 C300) and doesn’t attract the younger base like they want. A turbocharged MB leaves the option open for tuners to add a bigger turbo…bring out bigger HP numbers, and gives them a fairly big stick to compete with BMW, Audi, VW, and Cadillac when targeting that market.

The performance numbers aren’t impressive now…but just wait until someone tosses in a larger diameter turbo, upgrades the heads – etc. You’d be looking at a 300hp + MB monster. Remember for those who want a tuning friendly car and an MB…they have to get a either a C63 or above…which effectively prices itself out of the range of many younger buyers (young professionals like myself), AND couple that with the fact that its a V8 that some people aren’t all that crazy about.

I’ve already been put on the list at my dealership for one of these and can’t wait to get this into the shop. I, and a lot of the people I chat with who own MBs have been wishing for something like this from MB for a while.

They know it..they listened to their base…and they finally answered.
