Microsoft knows the importance of a good user interface. Windows has run for many years on a gui that was basically stolen from the early Apple computers, designed by Steve Wozniak.
Similarly, when they were about to enter the mobile market, they looked around for a brilliant interface to steal. And Marko Ahtisaari’s tile interface on the Nokia N9 caught their eye.
Microsoft swung into action. They infiltrated Nokia, killed the wonderful Symbian operating system, and appropriated the brilliant tile interface for their ridiculous Windows mobile.
Loyal Nokia users refused to buy it, and held out for a tile interface with their favourite Symbian OS. A Nokia team had almost completed creating this new OS called Meltemi, for their loyal users.

And Microsoft, worried that their stolen tile interface would get back into the hands of its rightful owners, swung into action again. They had the Meltemi team fired, via Stephen Elop. And they stabbed Nokia in the back by manufacturing their own tablet using the stolen tile interface.

Nokia ought to take them to court for theft of intellectual property.
