Mechanicards prove the card can be the best part of the gift

When I was a kid, I didn't like to read the cards that came with gifts at birthdays and the holidays. I didn't care who it was from nearly as much as the gift inside the package. A new type of card has been unveiled by artist Brad Litwin called Mechanicards and these things are probably better than any gift you might give.

The cards are actually kinetic artworks made mostly of paper, but including some plastic and metal bits here and there. Each of the cards is hand made by the artist and signed and can actually be mailed. The first of the cards is called The Radial Engine and is $45 alone. A DIY kit is $35 so you can build your own.

Other designs are coming as well including The Ambigulator, The Strum-U-Lator, Dragonfly Surprise, and the Yike-a-cycle. Only the Radial Engine is available now with the others coming in November and December. You can get all five of the cads for $300 or all five kits for $250.
