Mask headphones have integrated display in headband

As with music, viewing movies and TV shows has become a portable activity, thanks largely in part to the existence of smartphones. Viewing content on your phone isn't always ideal, however, perhaps due to glaring light or the screen size being too small. Enter Mask, a pair of headphones from Dashbon with an integrated display in the headband. The idea is that you wear them like headphones when listening to music, and slip them forward over your eyes to watch video when needed.

Mask is bid as a "wearable movie theater", featuring dual high-definition virtual projection near-eye displays alongside the more common ear speakers. This is joined by an HDMI cable, which is used to connect to your smartphone or other device. An integrated battery powers it all, offering four hours of run time on a single charge.

Of course, sitting in an airport or on the train with your headphones band pulled down over your eyes might get you a few wayward glances. It would be worth it, though, given that the projected image appears to be a 100-inch display as see from 8.7ft — much larger than a phone or tablet's display. The resolution, meanwhile, is 1366 x 768.

The creator behind Mask is seeking $60,000 USD in funding on Indiegogo, where it has thus far raised about $11,800 USD with a little over a month remaining in the campaign. A pledge of $319 USD will get you a Mask Early Bird unit, which is set to ship in October of this year, assuming all goes as planned.
