Here’s a piece of advice, if you’re trying to keep your PC cool this summer in a place without air conditioning, don’t take the outer case off. This will actually make your PC run hotter. By nature, your PC case will actually direct airflow over the vital components resulting in a cooler machine. Another good reason to leave the case on is that an open PC could actually kill you.

That’s right, if you’re in a hot room next to a hot computer, you’re probably going to sweat a lot. You’ll also probably be wearing shorts, and if your sweaty leg touches the innards of your computer, you’ll get electrocuted, and possibly die. This is exactly what happened to one man over in Shanghai recently, and sadly, he did not live through the incident.

This is the first case of someone being killed by electrocution from a computer that I have heard of. It’s really unfortunate that this had to happen. Let that be a lesson to those of you trying to keep your PC cool by opening it up.
