MacBook Pro with Retina shipping slips to 3-4 weeks

Supplies of Apple's new MacBook Pro with Retina Display continue to tighten, with online orders of the high-resolution notebook now being warned that shipping isn't expected for up to a month. The new Pro, announced at Apple's WWDC 2012 opening keynote on Monday and put up for order shortly after that, quickly saw shipping estimates stretch from an initial 5-7 working days to 2-3 weeks yesterday, and today that's stretched out to 3-4 weeks.

In-store availability, meanwhile, is also constrained. Some Apple stores in the US, such as in San Francisco where the developer conference continues through this week, had limited supplies on Tuesday morning; however, stores in other states have told SlashGear that stock isn't expected until the end of this week or, in some cases, in up to two weeks time.

Apple's flagship stores in London, UK, meanwhile reported that while new MacBook Pro Retina supplies had been due to arrive today, they're now not believed to be arriving until later this week. No official reason for the slip in timescales has been given, though it's not hard to believe that the tight tolerances for Apple's 15.4-inch 2880 x 1800 Retina Display have, as with the new iPad, been slowing down production.
