MacBook Pro with Retina Display gets "Every Dimension" promo

No Apple flagship product launch would be complete without a pared-back and deeply tempting advert, and the promo for the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display is no different. Unsurprisingly the new video, called "Every Dimension", focuses primarily on the 2880 x 1800 IPS LCD screen, though as the notebook carefully rotates we get a glimpse of just how thin the new Pro has become.

That, if your Apple-addled brains have failed you, is a mere 0.71-inches, down from the 0.95-inches of the regular 15-inch Pro. It's also lighter – helped by the absence of an optical drive, among other things – dropped from 5.6 pounds to 4.46 pounds.

As we found in our first hands-on with the new MacBook Pro Retina model, that makes a significant difference in how the notebook feels. Although it keeps the squared-off design language of the previous Pro, rather than the wedge shape of the MacBook Air, it's a lot more portable and the high-res display makes for a significantly crisper user-experience in apps that have been upgraded to support it.

While the advert might convince you, actually getting hold of a new MacBook Pro may be easier said than done. Online orders are warning of a 3-4 week wait before shipping with Apple Stores uncertain when new stock should arrive.
