Dude, I saw that laptop get dropped at least 4 times (that I know of). You see, when/if you get a life, you will probably have friends that use your laptop and do stupid shit sometimes (especially when drinking). The fact that it didn't stop working after the first one, still astounds me to this day... If I hadn't dropped it, kept it in a case, and wasn't used on an average of 6 hours a day. Yeah, it would still be running strong. Besides, Macbook's trackpad alone is worth a $1000 to me. PC's can't even get that right, and it's been on the market for 4 years!

Anyways, this is getting weird, and needs to stop. So say what you want, but I'm done arguing with you. It's just like what they say.

"Even if you win, you're still a retard"

Don't edit your post before someone can respond back to you. Only if people can see how idiotic you are with your original post.

Love it how you resort to assuming what little you know of me. ROFL
Apparently, I'm a lot smarter with my money which about says it all.

When someone as yourself gets delusional that "laptop breaks, especially with heavy usage". Yeah, I guess one would believe that living under the illusion Apple can do no wrong and their products are superior to everyone. However, you prove how craptastic of a quality your Macbook was. So I don't get your point. Especially if my 'cheapo' but comparable, lesser than $200 off laptop doesn't break within 3 years with heavy usage.

You wanna talk about how "so far stuck up your own ass"...yet, you're doing yourself no favor by contradicting your own behavior. Comical. Lay off simpleton.

More money than sense? My Macbook pro that I owned for 2.5 years broke. I am a full time student at a great school, and I work in sales part time, both of which, require the use of my laptop. Being without a laptop for a month and a half, is not an option. Not to mention, I use an optical drive pretty regularly. For the same technical specs, I would have to spend $600 for a pc laptop. For the same technical specs, on a half descent looking computer, over $800 (Toshiba Portege 835, Lenovo 420s). Now why wouldn't I spend an extra $200 for a computer that's made out of quality materials, the best trackpad on the market, MacOSX, and the ability to bootcamp? I already have this baby with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Now I have 2 operating systems on a great looking computer; made out of quality parts, for only $200 dollars more than a half descent looking/built pc laptop. So, more money than sense, you say? I say you're ignorant, and closed minded.

Its Apple so you are gonna pay out the a.. For the Macbook pro. The only improvement will be a graphics card and you will be paying 1400 for it instead of the 1100.

if people want to keep optical drives around then you would need to see a huge dropoff of people buying these new macbook pros. Then Apple would get the idea people want an optical drive. But from the comments here i dont see that happening. I will stick to buying an Imac when i am looking for my new mac for this reason. Hows the mini doing in sales? Desktops could loose an optical drive if it has more usb or thunderbolt ports to add extras. Laptops need it built in for reasons listed above unless you own your own mobile carrier otherwise how will you access data. With the way no one is limiting the carriers and letting them run wild. You will soon be paying more for less data. Also 4g right now is a joke. It is no faster than 3g right now and will be that way for the next year or 2 until they actually make it not just 10% of its capabilities.

The people selling their new macs because Apple is releasing a new variant are the people who make Apple the richest company in the US. Why do you buy an Apple product? You do realize they have the highest upgrade rate from a manu. But hey if you wanna waste your money to buy a 5% performance increase so be it. Are you also gonna ask what you paid for it? That seems to be a theme with apple owners, if its 3 years old ask the price of what a new one is. It seems you people dont realize apple products depreciate just like other companies products. They are tech products so its value depreciates once it leaves the store by 10% and some more every 6 six months when the new one comes out.

Apple also pays a corporate income tax half that of the oil companies. A 25% tax (apple) compared to a 48% tax (oil) just realize that when you think oil companies aren't paying enough. It capitalism that got Steve Jobs to succed in life no matter how much he hated it.

Overheating issues. How is something that powerful and that thin will stay cool?

This is what I'm looking for:

1080p display
TRUE laptop CPU's. No ULV(?) crap. Quad core is a minium.
1GB graphics. Sorry, integrated WON'T Pass.
512GB BARE MINIUM. preferably 1024GB storage capacity (or multiple harddrive layout)

hey, if there is a 17 inch windows 8 tablet with that hardware, I'll take it.

I really don't care how thin and light it is. I will ALWAYS will sacrifice weight and thinness, if 1) it increase the battery life and has better hardware.

That's assuming you can predict when you won't have Internet access and it doesn't address the other limitations I mentioned like limits of most laptops storage space, convenience vs limitations, using up data plans, lack of the extras usually included with most Blu-Rays, etc.

Streaming is becoming increasingly popular because of the convenience it provides but that's not the same as saying there's no longer a need for all optical media like even Blu-Rays yet, and it's only going to get harder once they upgrade from 1080P to 4K resolution in the next few years.

Right now it's really just DVD's that are completely on the way out, but we've yet to see what will replace Blu-Rays before we can say that they're on the way out too.

Yeah, you'll sure feel that way when you don't have a Internet connection and can't stream anything. Or see how quickly 1080P will eat through your 3G/4G data plan, or even through some broadband home data caps, which many don't actually give unlimited anymore.

While some people actually like watching the optional extra contents like behind the screnes of filming, cast interviews, etc. that you will never see streamed.

Never mind the questions on how long that digital copy will remain valid... The cloud is hardly guaranteed for forever and besides, eventually they'll think of a reason to make us buy the new improved version of the video...

I'd like to have a decent LCD and graphic card in the new Macbook Pro... But I think Apple won't upgrade that, it's not a marketing thing, it's a professional one and so Apple won't do that change.

so....how much are they going to cost, the 13 inch macbook air already costs 1100, so a more powerful 13 inch pro just as thin as the air is obviously going to have to cost more or a huge drop for the air..as this will just make the air an identical under powered machine.

WTF do you mean Retina Display? The Hi-Res models already offer over up to 1050, right under 1080p. On such a small display in the first place, you're eyes are not going to see a difference when watching 1080p content on a 15in screen. That's just not how it works. You can visually see a difference once you hit around 27in. Just output your Mac through Mini DisplayPort to your HDTV, or wireless to Apple TV with Mountain Lion comes up. Cables, discs, are going away. Everything will soon be wireless. Even charging.
