MacConnection’s rebate + no tax is a good offer, but in the end eBay + 8% cashback will beat any price out there.

It’s not much, but this Squidoo lens here (http://www.squidoo.com/apple-store-discount-coupons) gets you a 1.8% cashback rebate at the Apple Store. You can also get an even larger rebate at MacMall and MacConnection. HTH!

Dudes and dudettes,

Best Buy sells Apple crap for the same price Apple does, period. If you check the “sales” at Best Buy (and note that not all BB’s carry Mac) you will find that the prices tend to be exactly the same as Apple’s “education discount” price. Don’t hold your breath waiting for anything better, unless you risk the weird world of the apple resllers, and they won’t beat it by much. Order it from Apple. Bundle the heck out of it. If you have any connection to a kid, use their school code and get a hundred bucks off. It’s Apple – it’s good but it’s overprices, and does expect miracle deals. If something does sound too good to be true, you can bet it is.

There’s a good chance Best Buy has negotiaded something with Apple, and the MSRP may be adjusted to assume a sale-drop like this, or they just allow BB to do it regardless. I can see BB having a big of a negotiating upper-hand in this case because they are such a large retail outlet and they do have some well-documented best practices.
$100 off a $1200 pricetag isn’t a whole lot when you make that up with an extended warranty of some sort also.
