Mac mini gets a processor upgrade, is not being killed off

There have been rumors floating around for a little while now that the Mac mini is going the way of the dodo. However, Apple has just given the tiniest Mac a welcome refresh. I don't think it's going anywhere.

The Mac mini didn't get a complete overhaul like the iMac, but it did get a processor upgrade. The mini will now sport 1.83/2.0GHz Core 2 Duo CPUs. That's up from the 1.66/1.83GHz that we've become used to. The updated chips should give you a 39% boost in performance, according to Apple.

That will be the only hardware change, though they will now be shipping with the newly-announced iLife '08. There won't be any price changes, and you should be able to order them just as soon as the Apple store comes back up.
