This dub ruins the tension and the unexpected climax. Vader's first mumbled "no" is completely out of character with the forcefulness of his action. Lucas is a hack who cannot leave anything alone. No doubt, when he passes on, his last will and testament will contain more revisions to his films--as a final FU to everyone.

"No, not quite. The toys were good, but the movies weren't anything all that great and they've gotten worse."

First time I've read/heard something like that. In other words, your opinion is in the minority. There would not be such an uproar if the originals "weren't anything all that great."

Something has happened to Lucas. He has become the evil he was fighting to destroy. He has taken the original movie, universally regarded as one of the single greatest films ever made, and added childish boobligok to it, and if you've ever had the "current" version playing in the background while you clean your house or pay bills or whatever, you can almost hear the movie stop dead in its tracks when one of the new scenes comes on. It completely disrupts the masterful fluidity of editing that was done for the original. Lucas has completely lost his artistic sensibilities and has become reliant on the technology to substitute for good writing and creative narrative plot development. Consider the opening shot of the original. In one shot, the scale and scope of the battle was evident in addition to being one of the iconic images in the history of film. Never again would Lucas recapture the creative genius that was evident in that one shot. And if you really consider this, every movie since the original has looked less and less 'real'. The original was so effective in large part because it was designed to look as if you were somehow looking at a time capsule of actual events. Every other SW movie seems more like a fairy tale. Not that that's bad. But it does illustrate that George didn't learn that what made the original so magical should be nurtured in future films. Instead, he elected to focus on the fact that he couldn't computer generate characters. Do the band members of the original look more real than 'Dex' from Episode II? Of course they do. Why? Because they ARE real. Do stormtroopers in the original look more real than clone troopers? Of course they do. Why? Because they ARE real. Does the final battle in the original look more real than the opening battle of Episode III? Of course it does. Why? Because the original used REAL things to film. My hope is that someday, the next generation's Peter Jackson will take Star Wars and make the movies as they should have been (for Episodes VI, I,II, & III that is. IV & V are nearly perfect and would be almost impossible to top).

Just plain silly.. you were surprised by it? It's a pretty long scene if you think about it... and the whole time Vader is looking back and forth between the Emperor and his electrocuted son, so I'd say it was pretty obvious Vader was going to do something to stop it. The physical acting is there, leaving no need for a superfluous "Nooooo"
