Lotus Evora 400 launches at Geneva Motorshow

Lotus just launched their new front-running supercar, the Evora 400. It launches at the Geneva Motorshow next week on March 3rd, 2015. They somehow managed to make it lighter and faster than the previous model. It's supposed have the same great handling that all Lotus models are known for. The new Lotus Evora 400 is a whole 22 kilograms lighter than the previous model, which is especially impressive considering the increased performance specifications. Production for European countries starts this summer with deliveries in August. North America will have to wait until autumn to receive the 2016 model.

As for the performance specs, it has a maximum speed of 186 mph (300 kph) and it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in only 4.1 seconds (0-100 kph in 4.2 seconds). It has a 3.5-liter V6 engine which produces 400 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque. How much faster is it? This new model can actually lap its predecessor by six seconds. The Lotus Evora 400 also appears to have a lower, wider, and more aggressive design than the previous model, even though the width of the car has not actually increased. This is due to the new reduced approach angle of 10 degrees which creates a stronger aerodynamic downforce. Everything about the car has been meticulously tweaked in some way. They even managed to reduce CO2 exhaust emissions in this newest model.

The new Lotus Evora 400 will be hand assembled by actual people instead of robots. This makes it the Rolls Royce of supercars. Their British factory is ramping up total production to make 70 cars per week by September 2015. They are also expanding to have 200 dealerships by the end of this year. Prices will be announced nearer to the sale date.
