Yep. Hence the curiosity of seeing how it can apply. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be in car construction. Or maybe even into sports (lacrosse, hockey, American football) assuming it is lighter than what is used in padding (TPU).

So we should stop developing new armor?

Secondary thought:
Fun fact (subjectively)... bullets that are good at penetrating armor are less effective killers. Still deadly, but a single round is much less likely to cause untreatable damage that leads to rapid death.

Doubtful, if this stuff works as advertised then armor can be thinner and less massive to absorb the same amount of impact energy. While Kevlar is pretty dense with a relative density of 1.4 and this stuff should be closer to 1.

Dragonskin had a bit of scandal as to whether it provided real and consistent protection or not. While such things are often muddled by money and politics in the end the Dragonskin armor was ultimately never adopted by the military.

Regardless, the benefits of this gel layer are better as they allow for more natural movement, easier to wear in warmer climates, and will more consistently spread the impact force than the Dragonskin armor ever offered.
