Sadly, your confused. The 65 million they received that they simply have to give back, not a big deal. There are multiple networks signing up to use Sprints and Clearwire's new LTE networks and Network Vision, including a possible massive deal with Dish Network. This whole media prospect is annoyingly out of touch and a non-issue. Light Squared is only in the spot light because the industry shut them out - illegally, despite having found multiple solutions. Everyone goes crying wolf about GPS and how Light Squared is horrible, meanwhile, a company like Light Squared has the ability to make prices plunge on wholesale LTE and give consumsers an affordable and unlimited data solution around the country. Also meanwhile, AT&T and Verizon, a duopoly, control most of the LTE infrastructure in the U.S. as of right now as well as the absurd pricing and limited bandwidth. It's unfortunate people lack the informed knowledge and read through all the Light Squared research, solutions and analysis before making educated choices... they just take whatever the Government gives them, because you know, the Government is great and does everything perfectly and legally.

Lightsquared continues to seek special favors.

1. Their current frequencies are MSS (Mobile Satellite Service) frequencies and despite the FCC action against their TERRESTRIAL plan, they are STILL free to use these frequencies for satellite operations, which is what they paid for. The waivers from the FCC they received so far that allowed terrestrial ATC operations were given for FREE. Lightsquared does not deserve anything in compensation for the waivers being yanked.

2. It would be criminal to give Lightsquared other spectrum for FREE that could be auctioned off as TERRESTRIAL bandwidth to reduce the federal deficit. Lightsquared business plan has been to subvert the auction process, NOT pay a fair price for TERRESTRIAL bandwidth, and therefore receive an unfair operating advantage over the carriers that did pay, in FAIR and OPEN auction, for their terrestrial bandwidth. If this is allowed to happen, it is the federal government unfairly picking winners and lining the pockets of billionaire supporters like Philip Falcone.

It is time for this to end. Lightsquared can go back to providing the satellite services that proved to be compatible with GPS, and for which they paid a cheap price for.
