I’m all for cool lighting fixtures, but this one looks especially neat. If you are looking to set the mood, the Light Cast from Gadgetshop should do the trick.

You’ll get a synchronized light show with this gadget. All you need to do is plug in a music source and you’ll be good to go. The lights will pulsate to the sound of the music. It does this by means of “Smartbeat” technology.
33 different LED colors adorn the box of lights and make for a truly illuminating experience right in your home. It’s a little pricy at $89, but it’s certainly seems like it’s worth it. Besides, it’ll look great next to your lava lamp.

Don’t waste your money. I purchased one of these nearly 2 years ago, as they were sold via Sharper Image. Cheaply made and really poor light output, only useful for a corner of a room in extreme dark and not that entertaining. Better off with a disco ball IMHO.
If you must have this…you could build the exact same thing for under $20 with simple kits (rgb LEDs and simple audio based flashing circuit available at Radioshack) and it will probably have a much better output than this piece of crap.
