LG unveils Optimus L SeriesII smartphones at Mobile World Congress

Just a bit ago at the Mobile World Congress, LG unveiled the new round of its Optimus L Series smartphones, the L Series II. There are a total of three unveiled handsets: the Optimus L3 II, the Optimus L5 II, and the Optimus L7 II. The dual-SIM L7 II model will be launched later this week in Russia, while the launch date of the other two models has not been provided yet.

On January 31, we reported on some leaks that claimed to show off a dual-SIM Optimus L7 II handset. That handset is now official, and LG has detailed its specs, which line up with what we saw in the leaks that surfaced last month. Aside from the dual-SIM support, the Optimus L7 II features a 4.3-inch IPS display with WVGA resolution, a rear 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash and a front-facing VGA resolution camera.

Inside, buyers will find a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225 processor, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage space. There's a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a large 2,460mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The L5 II and the L3 II, meanwhile, have slightly lower specs, with the L5 II featuring a 4-inch WVGA display and a 1,700mAh battery. The L3 II features a 3.2-inch QVGA IPS display and a smaller 1,540mAh battery. The L7 II includes QuickTranslator and QSlide.

LG's President and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park had this to say: "LG has a history of pushing the envelope when it comes to style and Optimus L SeriesII builds on this heritage of design innovation. By evolving the sophisticated style and premium features of the original Optimus L Series, its sequel is expected to continue the popularity of the L Series around the world."
