I wonder what new or special software LG brings to the GTV Table. I have a revue box, and while it has many positives, it also has negatives, mostly relating to the Logitech software.

Google needs to get with it and release some good first-party software for features such as 1. Local/Network (both dlna AND SMB) divx/dvix/mp4/mkv/h264/bbq/etc player. the OEM apps are crap. 2. TV oriented google plus with hangout3. google talk with support for revuecam (heck I would like to see a feature where my phones front cam can be the video capture device, and my tv output the hangout / gtalk video of my buddy)
4. ICS style chrome browser with sync.
5. An sdk for using the Gtv + android phone/tablet for Wii U style gaming. Imagine a completely retooled game night, think monopoly, poker, munchkin, etc.
6. better integration with youtube rentals and free movies
7.Make picture in picture work on more apps. (think a pip version of google music while you browse the web)
8. Android @@home:disqus, I want to integrate with home security, smart appliances, etc. I want my TV to tell me when my laundry is done, the oven is preheated, and the doors/windows are locked.9. Universal hardware addons - tv tuner similar to boxee box, ability to use a usb optical drive, dvd/ cd write capability to function as a dvd-dvr, cablecard support, and ambilight support ( i know linux has a way to do it)

Also, Google needs to Open Source HONEYCOMB and GOOGLE TV!!! This would allow HTPC's to use it (as it was x86 initially) to grow the ecosystem and to be GPL compliant.

We have the Sony Google TV with 2.0 and love it to death. With Google Play all of our iTunes music now integrates through our entertainment system (for free) over the cloud. We stream live tv constantly, and the integration is excellent. Those who wait for Apple TV (and I am an Apple fan for the most part) are missing out on a technology that offers far more for free than serve as a mere storefront (Apple's strategy for Apple tv for the most part).

Replacing a big screen every two years?

This certainly would propell the whole industry forward at an unprecedented pace.

I certainly would enjoy a new and better big screen device in my livingroom.

On the other side: what happens to all those "old" TVs??

Will we flood the poor regions of the world and the slums around the globe with used flat screen TVs?
That would connect those, who otherwise never ever could afford a modern big chunk TV, a bit more with and to the world outside their confined realm. Could have some unprecedented and disruptive effects as well, who knows ...

If instead we keep those used "old" TVs for yourselves or dump them I wonder whether replacing such an item every other year would be such a good idea.

Maybe the industry considers hardware upgrades where the consumer has the option to just exchange a "mainboard" that slides into the set and provides better features.

some people will buy it because it has an Apple logo on it, but the vast majority of buyers will buy it because its interface won't be like what is out now, the new interface will be usable and intuitive (as has been the case with most of Apples products for the better part of the last decade), and it'll work well within the rest of Apples ecosystem.
I would just get the LG television. I think LG makes beautiful televisions, and I am a big fan of Google. So it's a perfect match. Most people that buy an Apple tv will most likely only buy it BECAUSE it has the Apple logo on it.
