LG G Pro 2: one year later

Last year at Mobile World Congress we were treated to our first up-close look at the LG Optimus G Pro, a device that took everything that was good about the LG Optimus G and beefed it up to a far larger handset. Here in 2014, LG is right on schedule with their second iteration, a device they call the LG G Pro 2, ready for Mobile World Congress 2014 with a set of abilities not unlike the LG G2. Here our exploration of this handset begins – right as we have a closer look at the LG G Flex for the USA as well.

If you've been following along closely with LG news here on SlashGear over the past several years, you know good and well that LG has been sticking to the market with generally good if not above-and-beyond results. They've appealed to Google in a way that's had them chosen as the go-to manufacturer for their Nexus smartphones two years running and they've decided LG was the ideal candidate to bring out the first Google Play Edition tablet.

Last year LG introduced the LG Optimus G Pro, a device we took on a Barcelona photo tour to test out all of its odd abilities. It was also there that we got a taste of what it meant to work with LG's taste for massive smartphones – beyond the LG Optimus Vu and its Verizon edition LG Intuition.

Here in 2014 we're about to see the LG G Pro 2, bringing on what's likely a full 6-inch display with 1080p resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Here you'll also find LTE-A action (Advanced, as it were, like last year's Pro) for the international market too. This device looks to take on a look that's a combination of last year's Pro with a relatively thick (compared to the LG G2) body and the LG G2's back-facing button setup.
