This does not sound true, why would you go to the BBB the could not help you. I really doubt this is true probably just some Samsung rep or something.

To the post 4mm is crazy THIN! That picture right to the edge looks great too, I hope these will come out soon.

‘course, the stand or wall mount will be nearly as thick as any other TV would be anyway. It’d be really cool to completely flush-mount one with the wall, but I’m not sure if that would fly given heat dissipation, access to power and signal inputs, etc.

There’s not as yet a way to do wireless power for any significant distances / amounts unless you want to put nuclear reactor in your back yard (cue foaming-at-the-mouth post about wireless power and Tesla’s suppression by the one world government).In theory you could get signal to it wirelessly, but I have extensive experience with some of the HD transmitters that are actually out (and will set you back $1k+) – but you’ve have to package so it’s tiny, and so the antenna is part of the display. Not easy. Then you’ve got the issue of quality – my experience has been 750 to 1000ms delays, and absolutely abysmal quality; sub-youtube level. In the ones we use, bizarrely, red-on-black in particular is so smeared you need to use 15 pixel type to even read it. Wireless video is there for NTSC or for HD from a long distance, but it’s nowhere near acceptable if you want to take advantage of a high (or even medium or low) quality TV.
So, yeah – for right now, you’re going to have a few inches taken up regardless of panel thickness, unless you want to cut a hole in the wall, ventilate it, and run power/signal through.

And, of course, if you’re going to do that, the panel might as well be six inches thick anyway, since you can’t see it!

Yeah, it’s a reoccurring problem with OLEDs. Usually it’s not permanent but it can be particularly distracting with low brightness levels.

Ouch, Got a 65″ Mitsubishi. The color is faded and might be a little less clear than plasma, but the price was unbeatable.

No, but the less room it takes up in my livingroom the better. Not everyone has/wants a TV taking up a so much room as it isn’t always the focal point.

I bought 2 LG Tvs, a 54″ & 26″, they are crap. The picture definition is blurred and the color of way off/
My 26″ picture went completely blank and 19monts and had to use the BBB to get any response.

I can’t wait until full size OLED displays are available. Either that or we’ll have to just skip it and go right to direct neural interface, but yeah that’s not gonna happen any time soon :p

We gotta hand it to the man who self-names himself “snarky” and yet has as much sense as a 2 x 4. You even take more than a nanosecond to look a the picture? If ya did, you’d have noticed that the picture is taken at a an angle that makes the screen LOOK like its a 4:3 frame. Seriously, why would u even make such a simpleton’s comment? And then you follow it up with another doozy…The article makes points to explain that LG is displaying this monitor to showcase its innovation to BRING the COST down.

That picture looks more like a 4:3 aspect ratio display than a 16:9 . Looks like these sets are still years away from being common and affordable . Hopefully they will actually will be sold to the public at some point and not suffer the same fate as SED – being much too expensive to be worthwhile of mass production .

I was wondering how they (LG) intended to hide the QOBC analog bus they’re now using to boost their LSMT1 and LSMT2 theraputer outputs. Arqulostech NZ. has already confirmed that their new Aribus 1150 is 5k faster then LG’s LCD componet, using the new analog “Gray Okrana” phasing from Mackenzie. You can already see this new technology at work in some of Samsung’s hand helds units.
