Lenovo Vibe Shot hands-on: a unique camera/phone

This week the folks at Lenovo have revealed the Lenovo VIBE Shot, a device that they suggest delivers "the best of both in one device." The best of both of what, you might ask? Why, the best of smartphones and cameras, of course. This device includes a 16-megapixel camera at its back with tricolor flash that adjusts automatically based on ambient light. This device also runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and looks extremely unique, to say the least. On its back, it's horizontal, top to bottom.

This device is extremely sleek. It's just 7.3mm thin, and weighs in at 145g. that's not to say it feels too light – it's reinforced with metal along its rim – aluminum, with front and rear covers made of Corning Gorilla Glass.

One might – at first – compare the feel of this device to an Xperia Z device. Lenovo's taken the idea of a full glass front and full glass back and they've made it extra robust, bringing a device that feels like a really good balance between light and hearty.

This device's camera works with a physical shutter button – right up where it aught to be. You'll have smart (auto) features as well as a number of filters and other advanced options to make your camera experience top-notch.

Based on the photos and videos we've seen so far captured with this device, we're extra pumped-up to give it a whirl out in the real world.

Up front of the Lenovo VIBE Shot you'll find a full HD 5-inch IPS LCD display. Under the hood you've got a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 64-bit processor and 4G connectivity.

The Lenovo VIBE Shot works with 32GB of internal storage as well as a microSD card slot that'll allow you to expand to 128GB total.

This device will cost you a cool $349 USD off-contract and will be available in three colors in June of 2015. You'll be able to get this device in white, red, or gray.
