I have to say, my experience with Honeycomb tablets has not been the best. (Xoom and Samsung Tab 10.1). The OS is sluggish and lacks features. I have an HTC EVO 3D Phone and LOVE IT, however for my tablet computing needs, the iPad wins hands down. I do not understand why I cannot create folders in Honeycomb or search my email (you can search Gmail) on the tablet OS. I found I can do more with my Android phone than I can with my Android tablet and do it faster on my phone. There is a missing link between the Gingerbread and Honeycomb and I would not recommend paying iPad money for device that is clearly not worth more than a couple of hundred dollar when comparing performance.

You can convert the powerpoint slides to PDF to be able to write
notes on it. Same with any office documents until they add the feature
or a software update to fix the write ability.

Buy from a bricks and mortar retailer if you want this but whatever you do, don't buy this from Lenovo direct if you're in Europe, it is fulfilled by Digital River who appear to be the most disorganised fulfillment house in the world from our experience and Lenovo Europe will just lie to you to get you off the phone. Our Tablet promptly crossed the world from China and then spend days sat with UPS because UPS said Lenovo (read Digital River) had forgotten to address it properly. Despite 8 calls to Digital River, ("Sorry, we need to contact our warehouse and we can only do that remotely because we don't even have a phone number for them "- Duh! on 8 separate occasions) and 4 promises that it will get sorted out and someone will call us back (but it seems that not only do Digital River not have a phone number for their warehouse but don't have outgoing call capability either), the system just sat in UPS's warehouse gathering dust. On 2 occasions, Lenovo told us that their logistics people has spoken to the carrier and it would be delivered that day ... but of course it wasn't. Twice it was shown for guaranteed delivery same day by UPS or guaranteed by Lenovo that it would be!.... just not to turn up and Lenovo's promises of expedited delivery as compensation were also lies as no such delivery was ever authorised by them to UPS. Other people on the various blogs have highlighted the dire nature of their after sales support if anything goes wrong - and after this experience, I'll buy from a retailer as I have a right of recourse back to someone local who has to give a damn, rather than Lenovo hidden away in the Luxembourg and irish tax havens who really don't care at all!

Don't be surprised TEK / Ollie.. The windows tablets also suffered from that way long back. It is not the function of the o/s to record the inking and store with the documents but it is the responsibility of each application to record inking and storing and displaying it.

Only very few applications recorded the inking in Windows and even office applications have to evolve beyond 2003 to have some usable inking recording. Office 2003 had a downloadable patch to enable inking, if I remember correctly.

That is where (sadly) apple has done a good job in defining the UI and the usability of the UI in all the apps that are delivered for that platform, iOS. And that is also why they did not deliver OSX in tablet form (when we expected that in iPad first) as that would have gone back to same issues (gestures not recognized by applications, buttons not usable for finger interactions etc..)

If you want to have handwriting and annotating needed on documents the best bet would be a windows tablet and MS Office 2010 with OneNote .. On the other hand, if you want to annotate pdf docs, that is an entirely different story..

With Android though, quick office should deliver a patch to store pen input as several devices are appearing with the stylus now.. Good luck..

As a student i can see this being very useful and is the first tablet that really ticks all the boxes:
1: Pen input- Little disappointed however that it seems i cannot draw/ write notes on my lecturers power point slides! Lenovo have missed a trick on that front!
2: Full size USB: Perfect and should be standard on all tablets
3: Full size SD card slot: 32GB cards for pennies.... Suits my student lifestyle down to the ground!!
4: 3G card slot: The main thing that puts it above the transformer! I work P/T at a mobile phone store and have a sim with 15gb of mobile data a month for free and no way to use it until now!

When the student loan arrives next week i will 100% be getting one... Just wish they had included pen writing on power point! Maybe that will arrive later??

What a joke. Stylus pen and cannot use it on docs to go? Are you kidding me? You want me to draw on a blank screen but cannot fill out or sign docs?
If you have your keyboard connected, your only other connection is a micro usb, right?
That usb connector w/time is gonna wear out. They could not think of a better connection to keyboard.
I tell you these people are so desperate to get these tablets out that dont think of what's important. Instead think of removing all the bloatware.

As far as the video review. Please have someone to explain the item in 2 minutes or less. This guy said "it comes with android..." 3 times. Also, nobody cares about removing the item out of the box. Have the tablet out and start describing the tablet intelligently.

Looks decent, but honestly Honeycomb just isn't really that reliable still. I like my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" a *lot*, although a lot of apps just don't run as expected, there are a lot of input issues / lag, and Tegra 2 doesn't perform as well as advertised (no surprise there). I'll be keeping my Galaxy 10.1, but really would prefer to see the quad-core solutions (better hardware) with Ice Cream Sandwich (better software, hopefully).

Looks decent, but honestly Honeycomb just isn’t really that reliable still. I like my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1″ a *lot*, although a lot of apps just don’t run as expected, there are a lot of input issues / lag, and Tegra 2 doesn’t perform as well as advertised (no surprise there). I’ll be keeping my Galaxy 10.1, but really would prefer to see the quad-core solutions (better hardware) with Ice Cream Sandwich (better software, hopefully).
