Lenovo ThinkPad Stack hands-on

It would appear that Lenovo is aiming to change the way they present accessories with the ThinkPad Stack. A series of interlocking units that are all the same width and length, each of the first four ThinkPad Stack devices are all made to make your notebook and/or tablet more powerful. The Lenovo ThinkPad Stack's first collection of devices includes a Bluetooth Speaker, a Power Bank, a wireless Access Point, and a 1TB USB 3.0 HDD. Each will be available individually and each will interlock with the other.

The first ThinkPad Stack is being presented as one unit though – again – each of the four units will be available on their own. The total weight for this stack is 861g while the total height is 136mm.

The ThinkPad Stack Bluetooth Mobile Conferencing Speaker works 2x 2W multi coil speakers and easy access phone / speaker controls. You'll connect with Bluetooth 4.0 and will work with D-note Digital Chip-less power.

Three sides of this speaker are metal grill for high quality sound and you'll have a noise reducing mic to make sure you're being heard. The battery inside this machine is suggested to be working with 6+ hours of playback.

The ThinkPad Stack External USB 3.0 HDD works with 1TB of storage and connect with fast -micro USB 3.0 connectivity. You'll also have password security protection.

With the ThinkPad Stack Mobile Power Bank you'll have 10,000 mAh of power capacity made to charge up your phone or your tablet. At this time the power bank does not appear to be ready for laptop use. You'll have LED indicators for power capacity and you'll be able to connect with dual USB 5V 2.1A/1A – for multiple devices.

With the ThinkPad Stack Hot Spot-Access Point, you'll be able to connect multiple devices to the same private network. You'll be working with LTE/3G dongle support and an RJ 45 Ethernet port. You'll charge up with a micro-USB (charging the hot spot access point, that is), and you'll have 4+ hours of usage on a single charge.

Together, this ThinkPad Stack creates quite the interesting collection of abilities for your mobile devices. The Bluetooth Speaker will cost $89.99, the Power Bank will cost $49.99, the Wireless Access Point and 1TB Hard Drive Kit will cost $199.99 USD. The whole set will be available in April of 2015.
