Lenovo plans to offer Endless OS laptop in Mexico

Lenovo plans to offer a low-cost laptop in Mexico soon, shedding the Windows operating system in favor of Endless OS, which is available freely for anyone to download. The laptop will be one of its more budget-friendly models, the Lenovo B41-30, helping the entire product hit a modest price point for buyers who are as concerned about cost as they are usability. Endless OS includes dozens of app preinstalled, all of them targeted at the average consumer's needs.

The laptop will feature a modest but substantial enough array of specs, including a 14-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Celeron N3050 processor, a 500GB hard drive, and 2GB of RAM. Connectivity spans the commonly used ports, including one VGA and one HDMI. There's also a pair of USB 3.0 ports and a single USB 2.0 port.

As tends to be common on these cheaper laptops, it will include a DVD drive, and there's also an SD card reader. Finally, features include Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11ac WiFi.

Endless OS, meanwhile, comes with more than 100 apps included, at least some of which can be used without an Internet connection. There are free offerings like GIMP for image editing , word processing and spreadsheet apps, things like music, maps, travel, and encyclopedias, and educational apps for learning things like math. You can check the OS out here.

It isn't clear what price Lenovo will offer at the laptop for, nor whether it plans to launch the model outside of Mexico. However, it should be available through certain local wholesalers soon.
