Lenovo has taken the wraps off its latest tablet, the Miix2 8-inch slate. With the tablet comes a quad-core processor and a wide-angle IPS display, as well as Windows 8.1 and an optional stylus. This is one of several devices running Intel Bay Trail processors that will surface over the coming weeks, bringing with it a moderate price tag of $299 USD.

In addition to the quad-core Bay Trail processor, the tablet features Intel HD Graphics alongside Clear Video HD technology and 128GB of internal storage space (microSD expansion slot also available). The display measures in at 8-inches, and has a moderate resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels with 10-point multi-touch support.

The front of the device is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, while around back there is a 5-megapixel camera. In addition to the Windows 8.1 OS, the tablet is also preloaded with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 software. Both a stylus and cover are being offered as optional accessories. The tablet will be available later on this month.

Said Lenovo's VP and General Manager of its notebook division Bai Peng: "Many users want the convenience of a smaller screen tablet, but do not want to lose the performance and convenience of a powerful, quad core Windows 8.1 device. With the Lenovo Miix2 8-inch, users can take advantage of a small, light form factor without sacrificing performance. The Lenovo Miix2 8-inch is a great example of how thoughtful design can deliver the best of both worlds."
