Lenovo IdeaPad S10 to get 8.9-inch sibling

Lenovo's S10 netbook is merely the first in a range of budget ultraportables, according to the company.  The recently announced IdeaPad, which has a 10-inch screen and uses Intel's Atom CPU, will be joined by an 8.9-inch IdeaPad S9, following the screen sizing convention established by ASUS' Eee PC notebooks.

The smaller notebook will use an 8GB SSD for storage, rather than the S10's 80GB traditional hard-drive.  The rest of the specs will be the same, including the Atom N270 single-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and, satisfying travellers used to using their WWAN modems, ExpressCard slot.  It will also have two USB ports, a 4-in-1 card reader and a webcam.

Lenovo plan to officially introduce the S9 (along with the S10) in China come September, with availability the following month.  Pricing has been suggested at NT$12,900 (US$418.99) for the S9, while the IdeaPad S10 will cost NT$17,900.
