The LaCinema Rugged is called rugged for a raeson. This thing is durable. Designed by Neil Poulton, it has an aluminum shell that’s scratch resistant, a rubber bumper that’s shock resistant and internal anti-shock absorbers. To put it plainly, this hard drive can take a beating.

With graphical menus, this drive can act as your home’s media hub. It includes a remote control for easy access. It is compatible with both PCs and Macs and connects by means of USB 2.0. You can also upscale video through HDMI 1080p onto your HDTV. This latest LaCie offering is now available in Europe for £129 or about $357.

So… it’s a harddrive… which “can also upscale video through HDMI 1080p onto your HDTV”!? So it is not just a harddrive, but a video-player? Is the difference not worth mentioning any more today? What formats does it play? What outputs does it have? And what good is the price, if we don’t get to know the size of the thing? Really, this announcement is very not-read-worthy. Sorry.
