I find it vaguely odd that rather than examine the UX where "usability" makes sense - the XBox360 user interface - he studies the "usability" of games. It's like comparing the World of Warcraft interface to Hungry Hungry Hippos, or the plotlines of action movies to drama.

Games are wildly different, and to attempt to standardise game UI would stifle innovation and, ultimately, fun.

Sounds a bit like a "well, duh" article. I would have been more interested if he analysed the god awful attempt at integrating the Kinect into the 360 UI as a whole. Kinect hub that you wave to activate? Why not a fully Kinect driven UI?

This author misses the point completely. This is superior graphics and a superior physical interface that will only get better. Here's how I know. Maybe 20 kids have been at my house in the last two days, having dance contests and river races. 7 year old nephews to 70 year old grandparents. Maybe 30 people in all. Word got out and more kept coming. Everyone enojoyed the game, everyone immediately understood the interface and commands. This is the Wii killer. This is the Nintendo killer.
