OK that makes more sense, however in this case I think Mr dotcom knows what is going on and can safely assume a vast majority of transactions on his sites are for the purposes he created it for.

The point is you don’t know that there are any guns on there, so of course it’s not illegal.

Think about a scenario of stolen diamonds. A thief enters stolen diamonds into a safe deposit box, he locks the box with his own key. The bank does not hold a key to the safe deposit box. The thief gives the key to a friend, so he can go and view the diamonds. Clearly only the thief and friend are liable – it’s not possible for the bank to know what’s in there – even if the bank does know that it’s possible that someone could use it illegally.

The only way to beat that is if the person who gave you the truck take full responsibility for everything otherwise you will have to fight hard to prove you didn’t know. It’s the same argument for if you are in a house when it get raided by police.

So if someone gives me the keys to a truck full of stolen guns and then they lock it up so that I cannot see what is in there… is it legal for me to accept a fee and drive it to another party? The shipper and receiver are clearly committing felonies, but not the transporter? Try that argument when you get pulled over.

Encryption keys are not password for rar files, they are used to decrypt the files name so you have no way of knowing what is the file.

encryption key? what a new invention, usenet is full of passworded rars and i don’t see them have much success
