Kahn Design Flying Huntsman 6x6 SUV: an off-roading beast

If you prefer to do most of your driving off the road, or you're gearing up for the apocalypse you know is inevitable, Kahn Design's new Flying Huntsman 6x6 SUV concept is sure to catch your eye. Set to make its public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the coach-built prototype is based upon Land Rover's Defender 110, and brings some tweaks with it that outshine both that and its mostly road-bound brethren. We've all the details after the jump!

Kahn Design first took the wraps off its Flying Huntsman last week, at least in terms of details, and it plans to show it off at its Geneva Motor Show stand on March 3rd. This particular prototype bears the Mission 1 codename, and says the maker, it is in talks about getting a production version in the pipeline — and maybe as many as five different variations of it.

First things first, Kahn Design has elected to extend the length of the bonnet by 400mm, as well as the rear cabin by 800mm (plus a 150mm widening). The rear door has been widened to match that, while the front doors are both longer, something the maker says makes it easier to get in and out. There's a full pano roof, and as you can see in the image above, at least one variation will feature six wheels.

Under the hood lies a 6.2-liter GM LS3 V8 engine alongside a 6-speed auto gearbox and tap shift control. This works out to an estimated 430BHP, and is complemented by a heavy-duty chassis, boosts to the suspension and braking systems, hi-lo ratio drive system, and more. There's mention of a possible armored version, and more "extreme conversions".
