Agreed. Oracle’s attorneys were probably not very clear about their side of the story. Also, jurors may have sensed favoritism and felt bad for Google. They are usually instructed to make decisions based solely on the evidence presented, but as humans, turning off their personal feelings is often times impossible. Even if they felt like the judge was beating on Google, they may change their minds.

If you cant convince a panel of foolish luddites, you arent an attorney worth her own weight in salt. Good attorneys, through evidence and experts, should be able to present a clean, clear case.

It wasn’t a hard decision. The patent didn’t apply, so the fact that it was a junk patent wasn’t even relevant. The patent only covered symbolic references, not numeric like Dalvik uses. In fact the patent no only doesn’t cover Dalvik, it DOESN’T EVEN COVER JAVA!

The decision was definitely made by a bunch of foolish luddites, albeit the right decision. At the end of the day, derailing Android is a job-killer, and that won’t fly with anyone at the moment.

Was it because people on the jury understood the technology? or was it because they had no clue what the trial was about to begin with?

I’m not going to argue about the verdict but I’m still curious as to how the jury reached the verdict.

I personally was hoping for this outcome and the way the tech press made it out, anything other than this would have started the crumble of society.
