I think the lost of Steve Jobs will be a loss for google, and microsoft as well. Android, and Win phone 7 was inspired by IOS. So if the days of the iphone magic is over, then its over for there competitors as well.

and how would that iTV integrate with a Rotel receiver for surround sound, or a Marantz or Onkyo, Sony, Levinsion preamp? How would that iTV interact with the local cable companies box or sat dish.

That is the issue that apple cant address, is the compatibility with the rest of the market.

Can apple make a 50″ monitor that works in their ecosystem, sure..can they make a competitive TV that plays nice with everyone else..NO

Trust me, you don’t know what you are talking about. The TV market is not the same, in no way shape or form.

For ONE…you cant take your TV with you to show off to the world at just how bad ass you are, which is why most iphone users buy iphones to start with and still use a PC in the home. Hard to show off that expensive mac.

Yes. Only time will tell but don’t forget that Cook still reports to Apple’s board and if there’s anything Steve was able to prove to the board was how to make a ton of money without compromising on price and quality. I may be wrong but if I was part of the board myself I’d push for better products everyday so I can continue making the 3x or 4x ROI they get.

If apple can intergrate their software into a television they could definitely change the game. It would be a smart tv and the remote would be any iOS device. Their would be no need for DVD players, you could be watching a movie on your iPhone and then walk into you living room to have the movie automatically switch over to your apple tv. If they could sell it at a reasonable price they would take a lot of sales away from tv manufactuers. Millions of iOS users would swap out their TV’s for an apple tv, especially if it has retina display. It would be a smart move by apple.

Not gonna happen. The TV market is already saturated with high quality sets that work just fine. Most TV’s “just work” so apple has no footing there. They also cant make it any easier to operate because part of a TV’s job is to interface with other products.

Apple is clearly out of their league on this one.

How long can a visionary extend his vision beyond his lifespan; that depends upon how far into the future he looked into, and the determination of his successors to respect his vision rather than just to pay lip service. Is Cook just a lip service man? Only time will tell, but he is arguably one of the most powerful men in the world right now.

No offence to Steve Jobs, but he’s dead and we still have to hear about what he wanted. It doesn’t matter any more cause it’s now all about what Cook’s wants and where he wants Apple to be. Personally i think Apple is going to sorely miss Steve and his push for his dreams. Will Apple still be about an ideology of what the future might be or will it now just turn into your standard every day company throwing out consumer products made on a budget and sold to make maximun profit. Only time will tell. I think the days of iphone “magic” are well and truly over.
