If I were you I would just get a cheap basic version of windows xp and either dual-boot or wipe and fresh install. On the whole I prefer windows to linux but that is just my opinion and I realise not shared by others

That requires a whole different set of libraries, which takes many months to be “reverse-engineered” to work with latest versions of iOS.

I assume you could probably upload some files to dropbox or a file sharing site and then download then on your iDevice, but that’s just tedious. I have a NAS, for phuq’s sake, just let me grab it directly!!

Problem with that avenue is; everytime Apple updates iTunes, it takes WINE weeks (if not months) to catch up with regards to compatibility. I’ve even experienced this with the incremental, small “bug-fixing” updates to iTunes. It’s like Apple’s breaking WINE compatibility on purpose with each update. Not very practical, that, and it doesn’t exactly work with all file types either.

Plus, I generally don’t like emulation.

That sucks for Linux/BSD users, like usual. Main reason why I can’t get an iPhone even if I want to. Just let me drag-n-drop files like any other device!!
