The 90 second previews are great. And as an artist, I can say that it DOES lead to more purchases. If people hear about half the song already, they think, "Oh. I might as well get it here". Well, if they like it, of course. If the preview is only 30 seconds, they might hear enough to really be able to tell if they enjoy it enough to spend money on it next to the alternative of grabbing it online for free. Plus, there are people out there that just listen to music and have no intention what so ever of purchasing it. This new decision from iTunes lets those people hear half the song and gets them hooked, leading to potential concert ticket sales. Almost like someone listening to the radio. They hear new music, but it's not being bought, and nobody complains! Bottom line: 90 second iTunes previews = awesome (for artist and fan)
