I agree. nexus is now defined by the “clean” Google experience, including removal of the SD expandable storage. The HTC DNA fits the bill perfectly.

Sorry, but I had to share my dismay about the conscious decision by Google and its partners to add “less” to the Google experience.

People don’t like Nexus’ purely because of the updates, it’s also because nobody wants or likes Sense, Touchwiz, Motoblur or any other crap that runs on top of the OS and slows your phone down.

Launchers and extra functions should be OPTIONAL not forced on you. That’s why people like Nexus’.

Really? An HTC Nexus? After the Nexus One shipped, that was it for HTC in the Nexus camp. And it’s all due to their GIANT skin, Sense. Sense has sucked the life out of HTC. Way back in the day I loved Sense and was always trying to get it on my Windows devices, it was beautiful and had WIDGETS and the weather changed on my screen, ooh it was soo cool. But now you can get beautiful screens, widgets, and a whole lot more through the Play store and their many, many launchers. And none of them are as encompassing as Sense. This means you get your Android updates and your launcher will be fine. Whereas if you thought you would get upgrades with an HTC Sense phone, fuggeddaboutit. I owned the HTC EVO 3D and I told my self after it that would be my LAST HTC phone and it was only because of Sense. In fact that was one of the hardest phones I’ve ever owned to get rooted and ROMed. My old HTC Eris was far easier to root and ROM but needless to say, most folks will buy the Sense phone and never look back. Regular folks will like the widgets and the pretty weather screens, etc. And never worry or be concerned about upgrades. Sense has become more than a skin, it’s a damn icon of HTC’s, it’s their legacy and it’s losing it’s shine. Not only for the reasons I mentioned of being able to find similar apps to do what Sense does WITHOUT holding back updates, it’s only for noobs and true diehard HTC/Sense fans. Until Sense goes, there will never be another HTC Nexus phone.

I read this article talking about the HTC screen’s resolution and also about Sharp’s new device which has IGZO, but NO WHERE does it say here, or ANYWHERE I can find online (except a few random rumors in comments on blogs) that this HTC phone has IGZO. This article says the Sharp screen incorporates it and will be released in Japan in December, and it’s not announced anywhere else yet…LOOK IT UP!!!!!

am I missing something? People seem to hate HTC’s Sense but I can’t see why. I don’t have any experience with earlier versions of Sense but with the 3.5 version that came with my rezound I already had key features that ICS offered (zero shutter lag, panoramic photo stitching, advanced task management, homescreen app folders, the ability to swap entire homescreens with one long-press, the ability to take screenshots) before that iteration of Android debuted on the Galaxy Nexus. So after my rezound got ICS I didn’t notice any ‘real’ enhancements to my phone, other than the slight fade-in-and-out screen transitions. As a matter of fact, with Sense 3.5 I actually have some features that Jelly bean doesn’t even offer (left/right 360 degree home screens rotation, slow-motion HD video capture with both cams). Although I heard that Sense slows the phone down, I don’t experience that. In fact, my phone is not just fast but very fast…so again, what am I missing?

Oh how much I’d like to get one, yet I just bought my Lumia 920 last weekend!!!!!

I like the opinions in this article. Nexus is signature by its up-to-date Android version, and that is just what most companies lack, they need so much time to tweak their devices to suit the OS, not to mention to tune them to get best performance.

I haven’t been a specs enthusiast, yet I really want one phone with such a gorgeous screen…Kudos HTC!!!

“This report says this, they report battery is this good blah blah…” Until you have actually used this for a few days you don’t know jack, based off my experience from using mostly HTC phones like the one im using now, battery life is not one of HTC strong points, i will remain skeptical. The biggest fault with this phone i gotta say is carrier exclusivity, HTC did you not see how well the GS3 sold? Why did you go and do a dumb thing like that. hTC you need help to get back in the game like once upon a time.

I won’t lie this phone looks like an impressive beast, but after owning several HTC devices like the one in on now (amaze 4g) and a Sammy, im done with bloat ware and slow updates to my phones, I’m super excited about getting my nexus 4 in a few days, 1080p on a phone would be killer butin a year or so all those on this phone will be hoping to hear their phone will get the next major update, while the nexus 4 owners like myself won’t have that problem, plus for value, performance, and community support, the nexus 4 is still unrivaled

Google should/must tap HTC for the next Nexus…but must incorporate specs such as… ample int memory 32/64GB or 16/32GB plus SD card expansion, bigger removable battery 3000+ mAh, 2GB RAM, 5″ 1080p HD edge to edge screen on a form factor of less than 138mm tall and abt 10mm thin, 12+MP rear and 2+MP front cams plus other HTC and Google innovation in the next 10 months or so. Simply put it is HTC’s time to do the honors again and grace us with another Nexus considering the type of specs available now. PLEASE GOOGLE MAKE IT HAPPEN…A 5″ 1080p HTC NEXUS 5 for this time next year.

I completely agree. Everyone else has stepped up there game in regards to battery life. Samsung and Motorola have phones with impressive battery life and high MAh. Idk why HTC always lags behind.

HTC dropped the ball with the Flyer and then with the JetStream. I still rock my Evo View to this day and it is a beautiful piece of art but HTC left it in the dark and us with it. They don’t deserve the Nexus brand anymore. Maybe that means they will create a Nexus 5. When Samsung and LG started to flail Google helped them out, which is smart… But HTC won’t see another penny from me until our unless it is via Nexus.

Throw in a WP8 version as well….? HTC will be undefeated.

Granted, that probably means freaking expensive phone.

This phone should have LANDED on T-Mobile, sprint & at&t. But the question is: Does HTC have that power…? (or could they not make massive amounts of this phone?)

What I would love to seen was this phone landing on all carriers not in the android version but Windows Phone version. If that happened: “Welcome back HTC. Welcome back.”

Hopefully this mean HTC is on their process of turning around. :)

Overshadow the Nexus launch? The Nexus was all anyone was talking about with the DNA as a footnote. No one wants to live with Droid bloatware. And having a 2020mah battery for a 1080p display is sad when the 720p display in the Note II comes with a 3100 mah battery.

Great opinion! As a Galaxy Nexus owner, I would love the HTC Nexus over LG, largely due to the larger screen. The 5.5 inch phablet is a bit big, 5 seems better, and HTC’s hardware touch buttons mean you don’t lose a big chunk of the screen for no good reason. Capacitive buttons are better than hardware buttons so everything is touch and not press. The trade off in screen space doesn’t make sense on Google’s devices, and eventually they’ll figure out to combine the top and bottom bars together, at least on tablets. HTC did a great job with the design, maximum screen size in a neat package.

I think this kind of short sighted. The Nexus program is no longer representative of the previous model. It is about disrupting the industry with cutting edge hardware sold at low margins with the purpose of bringing an environment more suitable to unlocked devices in the North American market. Essentially a power play versus the carriers. The problem with this is that the 5″ device would be too low volume to be viable for this purpose not to mention the fact that the screen alone likely wouldn’t allow for a low enough price point.

As far as Google pushing Cloud storage, they better get on the Service providers to offer bigger data plans for the same price. Otherwise folks are going to store everything on their phones. As they won’t want to use data for downloading content on demand….Someone better wake up Google, and Apple for that matter…..or the cloud will go away quickly.
