That is just ridiculous. What are our nanny-like goverment gonna come up with next in their obsession with monitoring and control.

First its pub drinking and cigarettes, salt and sugar in our food, what other life’s pleasure are they gonna try and force us to give up? I cant think of anything else, literally!

Children hear about all this stuff on the playground from age 5, why cant parents just accept that and get over themselves?

It is unworkable as we all know because 20 mins after it is enforced some ‘minor’ will publish a bit of software that will get round it. This is just another way for big brother to introduce another stealth tax. After all you didnt think the ISP’s will be footing the bill for this ?
I am against a ‘pay per pull’ xxx internet for no other reason that they will start with porn , then it will be music and films , and we all end up with a government approved web site list that we may download from if we have the necessary paper work to proove we are old enough to knock one out

And i thought george orwell was a bit far fetched !!!!

Great point, if we do not police ourselves that is when the gov. should step in. I cannot think of a perfect way to do this but at least dialog is opening up to discuss dealing with the porn issue. If nothing else we are talking about it. The average age kids see porn for the first time is between 6-9 years old and most likely on their home computer. No method for blocking will be perfect and suggest home computer owners especially with children take the first line of attack and install blocking filters. How about going to any length to protect our childrens innocence rather than worrying about the civil rights of those that want to exploit them?

This seems like a really bad idea. Extremely expensive to implement even partially, and still ineffective even then. It’s like proposing to try to filter all the black sand out of a beach or something.

While I normally don’t care for government interference on and in the Net, if XXX sites don’t start regulating themselves they WILL get regulated by governments. It is too easy for kids to get on these sites and since we are all raising sex-craved idiots as children these days, I fell that there is responsibility in parents in these matters. If there is nothing done then that means government will intervene.
