We're doing some iPad work now to integrate Braille and touchscreens. There's a video on YouTube at http://youtu.be/QmnLi2ER98E (apologies for video quality: first go on YouTube). Should be on App Store in July.

Basically it's a way of creating multitouch tactile diagrams: using the iPad to do the audio stuff and cheap embossing printers to do the tactile bit.

Haptics are lovely but better to so something simple and cheap now.

ironically despite your weak attempts at apple hate/humor.. I had the exact same thought a kindle would make much more sense.. or any kind of braille ereader..

in fact I just invented it for everybody..

remember those desk toys with 5000 pins you could buy at spencers that you could mold to your hand or face? some akin to this, spring loaded and held down with electromagnets...

cha Ching and hey you dont even need to invent a new improbable non existent substance ti make it happen..

I'm not blind and yet I've still never had that full, magical Apple experience. Is it like "happy ending?"

P'raps someone should start with braille kindles. Cheaper and less magical, but I think a blind person isn't going to be as taken by what Apple has to offer. They are far too smart and intuitive.
