iRiver Story gets WiFi version and big price tag

Back in January we spent some hands on time with the iRiver Story eBook reader and thought it was a decent enough competitor to the Kindle. In the months since we had that hands on the market has changed a lot with new offerings like the Nook and prices dropping significantly on the major readers.

The big missing feature on the Story back in January was wireless connectivity. The latest version of the Story now packs in WiFi and can connect with the UK digital bookstore offered by WH Smith's. The new version is called the iRiver WiFi Story EB03 officially.

It packs in a 6-inch 600 x 800 resolution screen with 16 levels of gray. It is Linux based and supports all major eBook formats along with Office documents. The big catch is that the thing is massively overpriced at £250 compared to the Kindle which costs about half as much. Fail.
